Section Engineer – Major Infrastructure Project

Red Sky Personnel are working alongside a well-established civil engineering contractor self-delivering works on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure schemes. Due to continued project growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Section Engineer to support the delivery of works on a major infrastructure package in the Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading contractor working on a nationally significant project involving complex civil engineering and infrastructure works.
The Role
The Section Engineer will take responsibility for the technical delivery of a designated section of works, ensuring activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme, quality, and project requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the engineering delivery of a section of works, including earthworks, drainage, highways, RC structures, and infrastructure elements
- Leading site engineering activities and providing technical support to Site and Graduate Engineers
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Coordinating subcontractors and site teams to ensure works are delivered to programme
- Overseeing setting out, quality assurance, and as-built documentation
- Managing ITPs, inspections, and ensuring compliance with project specifications
- Supporting short-term planning and sequencing of works
- Promoting and maintaining high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance
Requirements
- Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- CSCS card (White CSCS – Academically Qualified Person preferred)
- Proven experience working as a Section Engineer or Senior Site Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Strong background in heavy civils, highways, rail, or large infrastructure schemes
- Experience managing engineering activities, QA documentation, and technical site delivery
- Strong setting out experience using Leica, Trimble, or Total Station equipment
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- SMSTS or SSSTS qualification (desirable)
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
