Due to the continued growth of our business, we are seeking to recruit an experienced Commercial Insurance Underwriter to support our commercial insurance team based in Bingley, West Yorkshire.
This role will be office based.
NBS Underwriting is the fastest growing MGA in the UK handling Commercial, Property and Professional Indemnity Insurance. Using state of the art technology, our distribution model is unrivalled in the industry given us the edge to succeed.
Working within a fast paced, trading environment you will work within a large team handling referrals and quote requests from Insurance Brokers throughout the UK. The role will involve supporting all sections of the business including claims and renewals.
Key to the role are strong organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, working as part of a team to achieve business goals and maintain excellent service levels. This role will include business development.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Underwriting expertise in NBS underwritten products, adherence to Binding Authority,
- Underwriting Guide and Underwriting License.
- Identify and seek out additional key risk information required to adequately underwrite and price risks.
- Follow procedures and guidelines set.
- To administer quotes, new business, renewals and MTA’s within service standards, responding to customer enquiries.
- To resolve and action account queries.
- A sound knowledge of the insurance products and wordings offered.
- To issue documentation within service standards.
- Support the business goals by demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
- Escalate issues in a timely manner to Team Leader or Underwriting Director
- Consider and suggest ways to continually review and improve operational quality and performance.
- Ensure customer contact strategy (new, quoted, lapsed, prospect) is executed.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of computer data.
- Awareness and understanding of FCA and regulatory requirements and application to NBS business.
- Actively support and promote Conduct Risk.
- Identify own training needs and communicate requirements to line manager.
- Support Head of Underwriting Operations or Underwriting Director in ad-hoc tasks and projects.

The role is based in Bingley, West Yorkshire, but after completion of training the position could move to a hybrid working model but regular attendance in the office would be required to continue training and development.
