Secondary Teaching Assistant

Permanent Position | September Start | Hertfordshire

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a thriving and supportive secondary school in Watford from September.

This is a permanent position, ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential and making a positive impact within the classroom.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will provide both in-class and small-group support, helping students to access learning, build confidence, and achieve academic success.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting students in lessons across a range of subjects
  • Working with pupils who may require additional learning support
  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom management
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic development

  • Be committed to supporting students of all abilities
  • Have a genuine passion for education and student development
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team

Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, Graduate Teaching Assistant, or similar role would be advantageous, although applications from individuals looking to begin a career in education are also welcomed.
