Staffordshire County Council is responsible for managing a vast network of public rights of way, green spaces and country parks. We are looking to appoint a Senior Definitive Map and Spatial Information Officer to provide specialist advice and support across the green and historic environment and public path network.
The position, based in Stafford and offered on a hybrid working arrangement, is fixed term until March 2028. There is no rota or weekend working required.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver the management of Town and Village Green applications, the Definitive Map and statement, and associated registers and databases.
- Respond to complex queries and provide timely advice.
- Manage spatial data, ensuring high standards of quality.
- Analyse, prepare, report and present information for decision‑making purposes.
- Support the introduction and establishment of new digital solutions and data‑management protocols to improve service delivery.
- Undertake site visits.
The Ideal Candidate
- Significant technical knowledge and experience in GIS and data management.
- Demonstrable understanding of Village Green legislation and practice, and Public Rights of Way.
- Experience of collecting and analysing data, including interpreting historical documents and evidence.
- Good written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Willingness to undertake regular site visits/inspections in remote areas.
