Commercial Gas Engineer – Gas Compliance Supervisor

Location: Oxfordshire – Static site (defence contract)

Employment: Permanent, PAYE – Paid Monthly

Base Salary: £45,000, plus employment package of phone, uniform, and 34 days paid annual leave

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00am – 5:00pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the nominated Gas Responsible Person on site, ensuring full compliance with gas safety legislation and industry standards.
  • Manage and oversee all gas‑related permits to work, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Audit and inspect gas installations, appliances and associated plant to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Manage gas subcontractors and specialist engineers working on site, ensuring all works meet regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain accurate gas safety records, certification and compliance documentation.
  • Liaise with the client, contract management and HSE teams on all gas safety matters.
  • Support the wider engineering and FM team with technical gas expertise and guidance.

Requirements

  • Must hold relevant Commercial Gas qualifications (COCN1, CODNCO1, CIGA1, CAUR1 or similar).
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer within an FM, defence or similar regulated environment essential.
  • Previous experience or working knowledge of Gas Responsible Person duties, permit‑to‑work systems and gas compliance frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of Gas Safe regulations, IGEM standards and associated legislation.
  • Must be eligible for MoD Security Clearance (SC level); existing clearance advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
