Full Job Description (Domiciliary Care)
We are currently recruiting for a Domiciliary Carer / Home Care Assistant to support our client in Bath, Farnborough, Ludgershall, Andover, Tidworth, Bulford, Pewsey, Amesbury, Salisbury, Devizes and Surrounding Areas in Wiltshire to provide personal and person-centred care to clients in their own homes.
You will assist clients with day-to-day living activities, personal care, prompting medication, meal preparation and feeding. You will also help clients live independently.
Responsibilities
- Look after the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs of clients using a person-centred approach.
- Observe and promote the client’s choice, independence, privacy, fulfilment and other rights.
- Create and maintain good professional relationships with clients, their family and friends and other stakeholders.
- Actively support other Care Workers.
- Dress appropriately, wearing uniform and using personal protective equipment provided.
- Seek out best practice and look at innovative ways to improve the quality and efficiency of service delivery.
- Attend and participate in regular Care Worker team meetings and any other relevant meetings.
- Attend in-house and external training pertinent to the role of Care Worker.
- Submit completed weekly timesheets on time.
- Observe all health & safety rules and take reasonable care to promote health and safety of self and others and raise any concerns to the Field Care Supervisor.
- Ensure equal treatment and equal access to services and employment for everyone.
- Complete any other duties requested by Senior Management within the scope of the post.
- Supporting and assisting with all personal care requirements.
- Charting or taking notes for others to review.
- Providing companionship and supportive listening.
- Observing and reporting any changes in the health or status of the patient.
- Taking vitals, height and weight.
- Preparing meals and feeding patients.
- Maintaining patient’s health equipment.
- Responding to emergency situations.
- Prompting and administering medication.
- Accompanying and transporting patients to appointments or social events.
- Facilitating community and recreational outings, including transport.
- Providing support with hobbies, studies and social activities.
Additional Information
- The post requires an enhanced DBS check.
- Car driver and licence will be an advantage.
- Training and supervision will be provided.
- Previous experience not necessary.
Experience and Qualifications
- Preferred: 1 year of Domiciliary Care.
- Full UK driver’s licence (preferred).
- DBS check (preferred).
- Good communication skills.
- Caring attitude.
