Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Technician to support students and staff in our Mechanical Engineering section. Uxbridge College has excellent facilities for the delivery of Engineering, and this is an exciting time to join our highly successful team.
Responsibilities
You will supervise a team of Technicians in Mechanical Engineering, take the lead on Health and Safety issues, manage consumables, stock and maintain an inventory. You will prepare and maintain equipment for use by lecturing staff and students, demonstrate the use of equipment and support the teaching teams in their delivery of the curriculum. You will also supervise students in the workshop ensuring that they comply with health and safety requirements and good workshop practice.
Qualifications
You will need to possess a Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering and experience of working as a Technician in Mechanical Engineering, bringing skills in bench fitting, drilling, turning and milling as well as a good understanding of health and safety requirements. Good communication skills to engage with young people aged 16–19 and the ability to effectively supervise a team of Technicians are also required.
Additional Information
This role is 4 days (28.8 hours) per week. Actual salary in the range of £25,306 – £26,897 per annum. Permanent.
