Overview
We are now looking for an exceptional Head of Commercial to lead the transformation of our commercial and income-generating activity. This is a critical leadership role responsible for driving commercial thinking across the Council. You will lead the development of new income streams, strengthen commercial governance, and ensure our services operate with strong financial discipline while maintaining excellent public value. Working with senior leaders, elected members and external partners, you will help stabilise and reshape our commercial portfolio – particularly across leisure, culture, assets and services – reducing subsidy and building sustainable income over the medium term. You will lead a small but influential team and act as a catalyst for commercial innovation across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Council’s commercial transformation and income growth agenda
- Identify and develop new commercial opportunities and partnerships
- Strengthen commercial governance, business planning and performance management
- Support services to operate with greater commercial discipline and financial sustainability
- Lead negotiations, procurement approaches and strategic partnerships where commercial opportunities arise
- Provide clear commercial insight and advice to senior leadership and elected members
