An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated CCAB Qualified Accountant to join the finance team. We are looking for a driven individual who is self-motivated, pro-active and with excellent planning and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Finance (HoF) and Deputy Head of Finance (DHoF) to deliver all aspects of the service area (hospital site, clinical support services or corporate areas) financial management.
  • Manage a team of accountants to provide day to day support in all aspects of the service area’s financial performance and business partnering while maintaining an excellent team ethic.
  • Constructively and positively challenge all aspects of hospital/corporate areas’ financial and business performance and financial management processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Produce accurate and timely monthly performance reports for agreement with the HoF/DHoF for presentation at business unit board meetings and feed into the Trust position for internal and external corporate reporting.
  • Provide analytical review to support reported performance and influence actions based on findings.
  • Oversee the preparation of robust forecasts to be agreed with the HoF/DHoF, including planning and monitoring mitigating actions.
  • Deputise for the Head of Finance or Deputy Head of Finance in their absence, including attendance at business unit Boards, Specialty Boards and Performance Reviews.
  • Apply specialist knowledge of reporting, payment by results, reference costs and revenue consequences of capital to deliver high quality, comprehensive reports.

Qualifications

  • CCAB Qualified Accountant.
  • Senior financial management and business partnering capability, with expert accounting knowledge and the ability to communicate highly complex or contentious financial information clearly to clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
  • Experience in preparing performance reports and robust forecasts, with the ability to support planning and remedial actions.

About the role and applying

The post holder is a senior member of the Financial Management and business unit teams and will provide analytical support and clear presentation of financial information. The role requires challenging financial and business performance while maintaining a constructive approach and strong team leadership.

Additional information

Specialist knowledge of reporting, payment by results, reference costs and revenue consequences of capital will be required to assist in the delivery of high-quality reports.
