Operations Manager
The McPin Foundation (www.mcpin.org) is a mental health research charity that champions the involvement of those with direct experience of mental health issues in all stages of research. We are looking for an exceptional ’people‑person’ to join our team; someone with a keen interest in workplace wellbeing, compassion for the work that we do and confidence to manage a varied and practical workload.
Type: Fixed term for 2 yearsLocation: Head office (Bethnal Green, London)/Working remotelySalary: From £40,562 per annum FTEHours: 30 hours a week (0.8 FTE)
Role overview: The Operations Manager provides a key role in our charity, managing our people and operations functions. This includes the day‑to‑day running of our office space in Bethnal Green, human resources, workplace wellbeing, IT, and asset and data management. You will provide guidance and support, bring skills in working across teams and breaking down barriers, develop new initiatives and ensure compliance with health and safety, IT and data security governance.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day‑to‑day operations of office space and facilities.
- Oversee human resources functions, including staff recruitment, onboarding and line management.
- Lead workplace wellbeing initiatives and support staff wellbeing.
- Ensure health and safety compliance.
- Maintain IT systems and ensure GDPR/data security governance.
- Develop new operational initiatives and manage assets and data.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in human resources, health and safety and IT/GDPR.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Well‑developed people and line management skills, with ability to share information in a clear, compassionate, and engaging way.
- Can‑do attitude, inspiring and forward‑thinking in a small team environment.
