Senior Business Development Manager – Rail Connectivity & Data

Hybrid – South East

£65,000–£70,000 + bonus + strong benefits

The Company:

A high-performance engineering business with roots in elite, mission-critical technology, now applying that expertise to rail connectivity, data and transport systems.

They operate at the cutting edge of electrification, connectivity and real-time data, helping rail operators and OEMs improve performance, efficiency and passenger experience.

Following recent transformation and investment, the business is now focused on aggressive growth in the rail sector, targeting new customers, new applications and new markets.

The Job

Your focus is to build pipeline, open doors and win new logos across the rail sector.

You’ll take ownership of the full sales lifecycle from origination through to bid, tender and close, operating in a market with long sales cycles, structured procurement and strong incumbents.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Build a pipeline from scratch across rail operators, OEMs and infrastructure.
  • Proactively identify and create opportunities (not just respond to them).
  • Develop strategies to break into incumbent-held accounts.
  • Lead C-level conversations across commercial and technical stakeholders.
  • Own and contribute to bids, tenders and frameworks.
  • Navigate complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles (12–24 months).
  • Take solutions and position them into new customers / new use cases.

The Profile of Person Required:

We are looking for a true hunter with rail sector experience.

  • Proven track record of winning new business in the rail sector.
  • Experience selling into rail operators, OEMs or infrastructure providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to build pipeline from zero / enter new markets.
  • Comfortable with outreach, prospecting and opening doors.
  • Strong experience with bids, tenders and structured procurement.
  • Able to operate at C-level with credibility and influence.
  • Track record of closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals.
  • Self-starter who thrives with autonomy and ownership.

If you’re someone who hunts, builds and wins plus you know the rail sector inside out, this is where you make your mark.
