Our leading EPC client based in the North East of England is looking for a Project Controls Manager for an initial 3-4 years fixed term contract. As the experienced Project Controls Manager you will lead planning, cost control, reporting, and performance management across complex EPC projects. The role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, providing robust controls, insight, and decision support across the full project lifecycle.
This position is ideal for a project control professional with strong EPC experience, commercial awareness, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and manage integrated EPC project control systems covering schedule, cost, progress, risk, and reporting
- Develop, maintain, and control engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning schedules
- Set and manage cost baselines, forecasts, cash flow, and earned value performance
- Provide accurate monthly project reporting, dashboards, and performance analysis to senior leadership and clients
- Identify schedule and cost risks early, manage mitigation strategies, and support recovery plans
- Lead change control, time impact assessments, and support variation and claims management
- Ensure alignment with contract requirements, governance standards, and client reporting expectations
- Manage and develop project controls teams, providing leadership and technical direction
- Act as a key interface between project management, engineering, procurement, construction, and commercial teams
- Support tenders, bids, and estimates with high-quality project controls input where required
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Project Controls Manager within EPC project environments
- Strong background in planning, cost control, forecasting, and risk management
- Experience managing large, multi-discipline EPC schedules and budgets
- Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6 and Excel; Power BI or similar reporting tools desirable
- Solid understanding of EPC contracts, commercial drivers, and project governance
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or similar
- Professional accreditation (APM, PMI, or equivalent) desirable
- Planning or project controls certification an advantage
