We are currently partnering with a rapidly growing Lloyd’s Insurer to recruit a Data Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and developing source code and SQL Server databases, supporting the Phinsys system, and contributing to the company’s strategic transition to cloud-based technologies.
Key responsibilities;
- Support critical data processing between Phinsys and the Enterprise Data Warehouse by managing and monitoring ETL pipelines to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Act as the technical point of contact during monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, resolving data and performance issues under tight deadlines
- Perform in-depth root cause analysis to identify and resolve data issues across the wider data ecosystem
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to implement data fixes or recommend effective mitigation solutions
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate and strengthen manual steps within finance close processes to reduce risk
- Contribute to the design of a cloud-based Single Source of Truth supporting Phinsys and broader business intelligence needs
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL workflows using Azure Data Factory and Databricks to replace legacy SSIS solutions
- Optimise performance through advanced tuning of T-SQL queries, indexing strategies, and data partitioning across on-premise and cloud environments
- Establish and promote best practices for continuous integration and delivery using Azure DevOps
- Provide systems and data integration services in line with business requirements
- Maintain high standards of source code control and produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation
The ideal candidate should have but not limited to;
- Background working within the Insurance industry
- Hands-on experience of Cloud based platforms and technologies such as Synapse Analytics, Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake
- Solid knowledge of ETL technologies, specifically SSIS and Azure Data Factory and pipelines
- Solid knowledge of core SQL Server elements
