About the Role
As an Assistant Scientist within our Analytical Research & Development function, you will play a key role in supporting the development of innovative oral liquid medicines. Working under supervision and reporting to a Principal Scientist, you’ll develop, validate, and apply analytical methods to ensure the quality, safety, and performance of new drug products.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career scientist looking to build strong analytical expertise in a regulated pharmaceutical environment while working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
This role requires the successful candidate to be based at our Leeds facility Monday-Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform stability testing on prototype formulations for new drug product development
- Develop stability‑indicating analytical methods (with supervision)
- Validate analytical methods, including preparing protocols and reports
- Compile analytical methods, specifications, and supporting documentation
- Interpret data and support initial prototype methodology development
- Contribute to risk assessments and proactively identify and help resolve potential issues
- Ensure all analytical work complies with SOPs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain data integrity and take responsibility for the quality of your own work
- Stay up to date with scientific developments and apply current best practice
- Act as a role model for health, safety, and quality compliance
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in a laboratory‑based science discipline
- Experience in an analytical or laboratory environment
- Proven proficiency in HPLC and core laboratory techniques is essential
- Demonstrated aptitude and interest in analytical method development
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- A collaborative team player with a proactive and curious mindset
