Overview
We’re looking for an experienced and strategic Operations Manager to take charge of end-to-end operational processes across the South West of England. This leadership role is critical in driving operational excellence, ensuring compliance, and sustainability across both owned and third-party facilities.
You’ll be responsible for optimising processes, enforcing safety standards, maintaining quality control in line with the TASCC Code of Practice, delivering strong performance during peak periods. You’ll play a key role in identifying and mitigating operational risks in collaboration with the Health & Safety team, with the authority to halt any unsafe activities. This role also involves leading strategic initiatives, overseeing distribution capabilities, and contributing to planning with a focus on sustainability and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all operations adhere to the Quality Manual and TASCC Code of Practice.
- Implement proactive maintenance programs to guarantee uptime during peak periods.
- Conduct regular risk assessments in partnership with the Health & Safety team.
- Take immediate action on unsafe practices, escalating concerns to QHSE or the Supply Chain Director when necessary.
- Oversee day-to-day operations across both owned and third-party sites, ensuring efficiency and consistent commodity quality.
- Lead long-term capital planning and propose investments that support safety, efficiency, and best practices.
- Collaborate internal clients to identify and implement operational improvements.
- Design and optimise distribution networks to ensure timely, accurate deliveries.
- Maintain full oversight of supply chain activities, driving agility across operations.
- Support third-party partners to meet customer expectations and protect financial interests.
- Represent the business during inventory audits and lead investigations as needed.
- Develop, track, and maintain KPIs to drive performance and compliance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and customer focus.
- Use data and cross-functional collaboration to eliminate inefficiencies and reduce costs.
- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory and industry standards.

- Manage operational budgets, driving cost-effectiveness and productivity.
- Be flexible and willing to travel to various sites as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 8 years in a similar operational role, ideally in the bulk commodity sector.
- Experience in ports or bulk logistics is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of leading high-performance teams and delivering measurable improvements.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of the bulk commodity sector and TASCC standards.
- Familiarity with bulk storage, pest control, drying, spoilage prevention, and transportation risks.
- Knowledge of port operations, including scheduling, cargo handling, and stakeholder coordination.
- Excellent supplier and contractor management skills.
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Confidence working with data, tools, and systems to identify and implement improvements.
