Overview
Our client, a leading professional membership organisation, is seeking a Media & Press Relations Manager to join its communications and external affairs function.
This is a high-impact role focused on shaping external reputation, leading media engagement, and delivering strategic communications campaigns. You will play a key role in positioning the organisation as a trusted voice within its sector, working closely with senior stakeholders and influencing public and industry discourse.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver strategic media and communications plans to enhance brand reputation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and key influencers
- Manage press enquiries, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent messaging
- Lead crisis communications activity, including media monitoring and response strategies
- Plan and execute integrated campaigns across traditional media, digital platforms, and social channels
- Support engagement with political stakeholders and contribute to external affairs activity
- Use insights and research to inform media strategy and communication priorities
- Drive thought leadership initiatives and identify opportunities for spokesperson engagement
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment of messaging and campaigns
Requirements
- Proven experience in media relations, public relations, or external communications
- Strong track record of delivering successful communications campaigns
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messaging
- Experience managing media relations in high-pressure or reputationally sensitive environments
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience engaging with political stakeholders or public affairs is advantageous
- Familiarity with media monitoring tools and social media platforms
- Collaborative and proactive approach with strong stakeholder management skills
- Hybrid working model (1–2 days per week in London office)
