Overview

The AtkinsRéalis Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for the delivery of infrastructure projects and combines the best in project management and design management to provide a full suite of services to clients in the public and private sectors. The team is responsible for delivery of design services across markets including Water Infrastructure, Defence Infrastructure, Nuclear, Aviation, Energy, Rail (stations), and Urban Developments.

Our Opportunity

We have an exciting new opportunity in the Infrastructure PDP for a Senior Project Manager / Associate based in Newcastle or Stockton‑on‑Tees, working across Northern Scotland and Northern Ireland (NS&NI). The role combines agile working from our offices with time at client sites, allowing you to manage projects from inception to completion across local, national and international scales.

Your Role

  • Deliver projects to agreed programme, budget and quality targets.
  • Identify and agree project objectives and develop strategies to achieve them.
  • Manage contractual and commercial risks, and identify opportunities for the client and AtkinsRéalis.
  • Lead and motivate the project team, coaching and guiding them to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Facilitate communication and information flow with the client, project team, subcontractors and partners.
  • Agree commercial trading arrangements and communication plans with Discipline Leads and other teams across the business.
  • Own the project delivery programme and delivery plans.
  • Protect commercial interests through invoicing, credit control, Earned Value reporting and risk allowance management.
  • Close out projects, archive documentation, capture lessons learned and initiate client satisfaction surveys.
  • Deliver projects in line with AtkinsRéalis Values – Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, and Innovation.

About You

  • Chartered Engineer/Architect/Project Manager or equivalent with demonstrable experience on large infrastructure projects.
  • APM PMQ (or equivalent) recognised level of competence in Project Management – desirable.
  • Experience across a range of major project sectors.
  • Knowledge of construction contract forms, especially NEC3/4 and bespoke contracts.
  • Experience of managing design projects to time, cost and quality objectives, and familiarity with programming and Earned Value techniques.
  • Familiar with BIM and 3D modelling tools for design and coordination.
  • Customer focused with excellent client relationship management skills.
  • Strong understanding of assurance and compliance principles within the relevant industry.
  • Ability to identify new opportunities and drive growth for the business.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, reliable, and able to work independently and within a multi‑discipline team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Collaborative approach to project delivery and stakeholder management.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and work away from home on client sites.
