Job Description:

The Clinical Research Team Leader plays a pivotal role in leading, coordinating, and advancing a high-quality portfolio of clinical research across the service. The post-holder will provide expert operational and clinical leadership to ensure that all studies are delivered safely, ethically, and efficiently, in full alignment with regulatory requirements, Good Clinical Practice, and Trust policy. As a visible and supportive leader, the post-holder will foster a positive research culture, champion participant-centered care, develop team capability, and drive continuous improvement to support the growth and excellence of research activity at NUH.

  • Demonstrate strong research-specific skills to ensure the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of clinical studies across the service.
  • Expert knowledge of research governance and regulation including Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ethical frameworks, MHRA/HRA requirements, GDPR, and Trust research policies, ensuring all studies are delivered to the highest legal and professional standards.
  • Study feasibility and portfolio management oversight including assessment of deliverability, resource needs, patient population, suitability and capacity planning.
  • Risk identification and mitigation ability to recognise operational, clinical, and data-related risks within studies and implement proactive strategies to maintain patient/participant safety, protocol compliance and study integrity.
  • Lead, co-ordinate and be accountable for the delivery of research studies and management of patient/participant care, ensuring safe staffing levels and effective use of resources.
  • Ensure concerns raised by patients, participants and their families are dealt with in an open, honest and transparent way, quickly and effectively, in line with Trust policies, procedures and Duty of Candour legislation.
