About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Housing Resettlement Officer to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness to move from temporary accommodation into secure, long-term housing.
You will manage a caseload of clients owed the main housing duty, providing tailored advice, assessing their needs, and working proactively to remove barriers to rehousing. This is a rewarding role where you will make a real difference by helping people rebuild stability and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of homelessness cases and support clients into settled accommodation
- Assess housing and support needs and develop personalised housing plans
- Provide advice on housing options, including private renting and social housing
- Liaise with landlords and partner agencies to secure suitable accommodation
- Carry out interviews, home visits, and affordability assessments
- Make decisions in line with homelessness legislation and issue formal decision letters
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
About You
- Strong understanding of homelessness legislation (Housing Act 1996 Part VII)
- Experience working with vulnerable clients in housing or a related field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and meet deadlines
- Confident working with partners, landlords, and external agencies
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Full UK driving licence (required for visits)
