As we strengthen our approach to environmental governance and compliance, we are looking for a proactive and highly organised Environmental Project Delivery Manager to lead key environmental compliance projects across our estate. This role will play a vital part in ensuring we meet our environmental obligations, manage compliance risks, and embed consistent, effective processes that protect our people, places, and the environment.

About the Role

As the Environmental Project Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and closing a portfolio of environmental compliance projects. You will coordinate cross‑functional teams, manage risks, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standard. Working closely with colleagues in Quality Assurance, Auditing, Hard FM Compliance, Delivery teams, and external partners, you’ll turn complex regulatory requirements into practical, sustainable solutions that support safe and compliant operations across the NHS estate.

This is a hands‑on role requiring strong project management capability, environmental understanding, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse teams.

Who You Are

You are an experienced project manager with knowledge of environmental compliance, legislation, or industry standards. You’re confident leading multifaceted projects, engaging stakeholders at all levels, and guiding teams through change. Highly organised and detail‑driven, you thrive in a collaborative environment and bring a solution‑focused approach to managing environmental risks, reporting requirements, and operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver environmental compliance projects, ensuring clear scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Develop project plans, assign responsibilities, and monitor performance and progress.
  • Manage change, risks, issues, and decisions, ensuring all project controls are followed.
  • Deliver environmental compliance initiatives including:
  • Audit and inspection framework
  • OFTEC implementation
  • Drainage marking and mapping
  • Spillage management
  • MCPD permitting
  • Embed compliance processes into business‑as‑usual activities in partnership with Quality Assurance, Auditing, Hard FM Compliance, and Delivery teams.
  • Support the Environmental Team with reporting requirements and the development of environmental documentation.
  • Conduct environmental site assessments, inspections, and audits as required.
  • Develop and manage environmental action plans to strengthen compliance across the organisation.
  • Produce and maintain processes, procedures, and guidance documents.
  • Manage performance indicators to support continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and support to upskill colleagues on environmental compliance expectations.
  • Manage third‑party suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of work.
  • Complete additional compliance‑related tasks as delegated by the Senior Environmental Compliance Manager.

Where You’ll Be

This is a hybrid role and will be an 18‑month FTC, salary from £50,000.
