BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Cash for Car allowance: £6756 pa

Start Date : April/May 2026

Location: Covering the South of England

Hours: 35 hours per week

Shift pattern: Monday – Friday 09:00-17:00

Salary: £45,000 pa plus OTE of up to £20,000 pa

ABOUT YOU

You’re an experienced, driven sales professional with a solid background in business development and a passion for delivering impactful digital solutions. You understand the needs of the Housing and Social Care sectors, build strong customer relationships, and thrive in a role where no two days are the same. You’re commercially aware, tech‑literate, highly organised, and confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels.

EXPERIENCE (ESSENTIAL)

  • A demonstrable track record of success in New Business Development, ideally within social alarm or telecoms environments
  • Experience selling services or solutions directly to customers and end users
  • Related management and/or customer sales training
  • Understanding of the sales process and account management
  • Intermediate to advanced ability with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

EXPERIENCE (DESIRABLE)

  • Experience dealing with external customers
  • Knowledge of CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics or similar)
  • Previous experience in the health and social care market
  • Basic understanding of IP‑based digital solutions
  • Knowledge of managed service solutions
  • Understanding of subscription‑based pricing models

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING (ESSENTIAL)

  • A good standard secondary education
  • Significant background in the social alarm/monitoring or telecommunications sector

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING (DESIRABLE)

  • Professional Selling Skills training (LDL, Holden, TAS, SPIN)
  • Knowledge of warden call systems, monitoring centres, and dispersed alarms in a digital environment

SKILLS, GENERAL & SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE (ESSENTIAL)

  • Strong understanding of the Housing, Social Care, or TECS market
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Clear grasp of effective relationship management
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Strong report‑writing capabilities

SKILLS, GENERAL & SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE (DESIRABLE)

  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify strategic or tactical solutions
  • General business understanding

  • Technology‑literate, including experience with IoT devices

THE ROLE

As a key driver of our growth, you’ll spearhead new business sales across your designated region or vertical—championing Appello’s innovative digital solutions, software platforms, and services within the Housing and Social Care sectors. You’ll build and convert a strong pipeline of opportunities, nurture lasting customer relationships, and ensure all activity aligns with our commercial, operational, and legal standards. This role blends new‑business energy with strategic account management to deliver sustainable, profitable growth.

Promote Appello Digital Solutions

  • Gain a clear understanding of the challenges in the UK Housing and Social Care sectors
  • Develop and promote appropriate Appello digital solutions and software services via meetings, calls, email, or social media
  • Attend relevant industry conferences and events
  • Record and manage sales opportunities through the CRM

New Business Generation

  • Create and manage a sales pipeline to meet departmental targets
  • Achieve financial and order‑intake goals
  • Maintain agreed margin levels
  • Keep CRM records accurate and up to date
  • Produce Account Development Plans for major opportunities
  • Manage stakeholders effectively
  • Promote solutions via multiple communication channels
  • Assist finance teams with cash collection

Account Management

  • Handle and resolve client queries
  • Grow revenue and profit across existing accounts
  • Meet set financial and order‑intake targets
  • Maintain accurate CRM data
  • Create Account Development Plans
  • Ensure strong stakeholder engagement
  • Promote solutions via meetings, calls, or digital channels
  • Support the finance team with cash collection

Tender Submissions

  • Support the bid team with tender preparation
  • Write responses to complex tender questions
  • Interpret tender requirements and guide the bid process

Surveys & Quotations

  • Prepare estimates, quotations, tenders, and customer presentations
  • Conduct surveys and demonstrations, including outside your sales territory if required
