Cyber Security Consultant (SC Cleared) Location: Bath / Bristol (BMT Group offices) – Hybrid (approx. 2 days onsite per week)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 6 months (with potential extension)

Rate: Up to £650/day – Inside IR35

Clearance Required: SC Cleared (Active, not lapsed)

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Consultant to support a UK defence programme involving IT, OT, and combat systems technologies.

This is a highly niche requirement requiring a rare combination of defence, OT, and cyber security expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct cyber security risk assessments (threats, vulnerabilities, controls)
• Analyse and assess complex IT & OT systems and network architectures
• Develop and review RMADS documentation, including:
  • Treatment Plans
  • Implementation Plans
  • Assurance Plans
  • Gap Analysis
• Apply security controls and mitigation strategies
• Support security accreditation of systems
• Define security testing requirements and protocols
• Participate in FAT & SAT testing
• Perform/support penetration testing
• Provide technical cyber security advice
• Produce high-quality technical documentation
• Communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

• Proven experience in cyber risk assessment & mitigation
• Ability to analyse complex IT & OT systems
• Experience with network architectures (IT & OT)
• Knowledge of Operational Technology (OT) or similar systems (e.g. aircraft, ships, combat systems, UAVs)
• Experience scoping security testing requirements
• Excellent technical writing & communication skills

Desirable

• Experience delivering security accredited systems
• Experience with RMADS documentation
• Exposure to:
  • SIEM, IDS, Firewalls
  • Encryption technologies
  • Industrial protocols (MODbus, Profinet, CANbus, TCP/IP)
  • PLC systems (e.g. Siemens S7)

Qualifications (Desirable)

• CISSP
• CompTIA Network+
• CompTIA CySA+
• SANS / GIAC

Security & Compliance

• Active SC Clearance required
• Must be eligible for BPSS clearance
