Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust is inviting applications for a Band 2 Assistant Audiologist based at the Lyng Centre for Health and Social Care, West Bromwich. The role is 32.25 hours per week (part‑time). The Assistant Audiologist supports qualified Audiologists in delivering high‑quality audiology services, including hearing aid repair clinics and administrative tasks.
Main duties of the job
- Conduct hearing aid repair clinics independently, including earmould fittings, fault identification, repairs, and patient reinstruction.
- Perform otoscopic examinations and elevate concerns to qualified staff.
- Provide counselling on hearing aid use and promote effective hearing strategies.
- Manage stock of hearing aids and consumables, including ordering, receiving, and distribution.
- Process referrals, maintain waiting lists, and book appointments using Auditbase and NHS systems.
- Handle patient queries via phone, email, and reception, ensuring empathetic and professional communication.
- Support departmental audits, training, and cover duties as needed.
Qualifications
- GCSE in English and Maths at Grade C or above, or equivalent.
Experience
- Experience of working with the general public.
- Experience of working with computers and database systems.
- Experience of working with hearing aids.
- Experience of working alone.
- Experience of dealing with people with a hearing impairment.
- Experience of face‑to‑face contact in a healthcare setting.
Registration requirements
- Appropriate UK professional registration required.
