Customer Delivery Hub, 7.5T Driver Trainee

About the role

As a Driver Trainee Installer, you will be supported through our 3‑month trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Installer with a C1 driving licence. Once you are fully trained, you will deliver our distinctive John Lewis service straight to customers’ homes, installing products such as furniture, large electrical appliances, sound systems and TV sets as part of a 2‑person delivery crew.

Due to its nature, you need to be 18 years or older to work in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete the 3‑month Customer Delivery Driver Trainee programme and meet the criteria to become a fully qualified Installer.
• Act as an ambassador for the John Lewis brand, putting great customer service first.
• Work with the warehouse team to load the vehicle with daily deliveries.
• Show great respect and courtesy for customers’ homes and handle unexpected situations to find the best solutions.
• Install products efficiently and quickly, and demonstrate how they work once installed.
• Keep up to date with new products and technologies to perform the role at its best.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
• Perform heavy lifting – deliver large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds and mattresses.

Essential skills/experience

• UK B‑category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Excellent verbal communication skills, both over the phone and in person.
• Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation.

Desirable skills/experience

• Previous experience in installation and customer delivery driving.

Full time (41 hours per week) working from 06:00 to 17:00, 4 days a week on a 5‑week rota, which includes 3 Saturdays.
