Service Engineer

UK-based (National Travel Required)£50,000 – £55,000 DOEFull-Time | Field-Based Role

A leading engineering client within the advanced sheet metal processing and automation sector is seeking an experienced Service Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, and breakdown response of high-value machinery across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected OEM-support environment working on some of the most advanced panel bending, laser, and automation systems in the industry.

The Role

As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing high-quality technical support to customers, ensuring optimal machine performance and minimal downtime. The role will involve UK-wide travel with occasional overseas support when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation, commissioning, and servicing of machinery
  • Fault finding and diagnostics on electrical and mechanical systems
  • Responding to breakdowns and providing technical support on-site
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Supporting machine upgrades and retrofit projects
  • Liaising directly with customers to provide technical guidance
  • Ensuring all service work is documented accurately and professionally
  • Working closely with engineering and technical support teams

The Candidate

We are keen to speak with engineers who have:

  • Strong multi-skilled (electrical and mechanical) service experience
  • Background in CNC machinery, sheet metal equipment, or capital equipment
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Experience working in a field-based service role
  • Good understanding of automation, PLCs, hydraulics, or pneumatics (advantageous)
  • Ability to work independently and manage a national travel schedule
  • Strong customer-facing and communication skills
  • A proactive and problem-solving mindset
