The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes to support an established NHS Diabetes and Endocrine service within Essex. This opportunity offers an ongoing locum assignment with a full-time Monday to Friday job plan, providing consistent weekday work within a well-established acute NHS environment. It is particularly well suited to experienced Consultants seeking a varied role incorporating inpatient care, specialist diabetic foot services, outpatient endocrinology clinics, advice and guidance activity, and wider diabetes service support. You will be working alongside established multidisciplinary teams, supporting day-to-day Diabetes and Endocrinology service delivery while contributing to high-quality patient care across both inpatient and outpatient settings.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver Consultant-level Diabetes and Endocrinology care within an acute NHS setting
- Support inpatient ward activity and specialist diabetes management
- Participate in dedicated diabetic foot services
- Conduct Endocrinology outpatient clinics
- Provide advice and guidance support to referring clinicians
- Contribute to triage activity and service development initiatives
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records
- Work collaboratively with specialist nurses, allied health professionals and multidisciplinary teams
- Support safe, effective and patient-centred service delivery
What We’re Looking For
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register, or eligibility for Consultant-level practice
- Relevant recent UK Consultant experience within Diabetes and Endocrinology
- Experience managing complex diabetes and endocrine presentations
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication, leadership and clinical decision-making skills
- Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship)
