Company: Nugi Tech
Apply for the Full Stack Web Developer (Placement)
Location: Ealing
Job Description:

At NugiTech, we build software that helps businesses compete globally and solve real‑world problems with innovative, future‑ready products. As a Fullstack Web Developer (Placement), you’ll learn by pairing with an engineer, picking up front‑end tickets, building simple APIs, writing basic tests, and shipping features that real users rely on.

You’ll work from our Ealing (W5) London office on a hybrid schedule with supportive mentoring and code reviews.

Join the Product Engineering team (UK & Nigeria) and gain hands‑on experience building real features for real customers.

Required Technical Skills

  • Create and consume REST APIs using Node.js or Java Spring Boot.
  • Read and write to a database such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
  • Fix bugs, refactor for readability, and add basic unit tests.
  • Use Git/GitHub for branches, pull requests, and code reviews.
  • Follow a simple agile workflow: pick a ticket, estimate effort, build the solution, and demonstrate the result.
  • Collaborate with designers and product managers.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with React, Express, and SQL/NoSQL basics.
  • Familiarity with testing (Jest), Postman, and simple CI (GitHub Actions).
  • Interest in accessibility (a11y) and performance (Lighthouse).

About You

  • You are currently studying a computing/IT related degree and eligible for a placement year.
  • You have knowledge of HTTP, JSON, REST, and Git.
  • You are curious, humble, willing to learn, and communicate clearly.

Success Metrics (what good looks like)

  • Complete 1–2 scoped tickets per sprint with mentoring and pass code review.
  • Features meet acceptance criteria, basic test coverage, and a11y checks.
  • Actively ask for feedback and show steady growth (git history, PR quality, fewer rework cycles).

Why Join Us?

Real impact

  • Ship small but meaningful features to real customers in your first sprints.
  • Own 1–2 tickets end‑to‑end and see your work in production with usage analytics and user feedback.
  • Demo your work in show‑and‑tell sessions and add real projects to your portfolio.

Mentored growth

  • A named buddy and weekly 1:1 check‑ins to unblock you and plan your learning.
  • Pair programming, structured code reviews, and a clear ‘definition of done’ so you know exactly what ‘good’ looks like.
  • A simple 30–60–90 day plan with achievable goals.
  • Short learning blocks focused on the stack you’ll use.

Supportive placement (aligned with the AGCAS Work Experience Standard)

  • Clear objectives, a realistic workload, and a supportive supervisor.
  • Regular feedback cycles (sprint reviews/retros) and a safe space to ask questions.
  • Documented tasks and guidance on professional skills (Git hygiene, tickets, stand‑ups, handovers).
  • At the end, deliver a placement summary, evidence of contributions such as PRs and issues, and a reference you can use.

Student‑friendly environment

  • Clear starter tasks, lots of examples, and friendly reviewers.
  • Flexible, hybrid working from our Ealing (W5) office with a simple toolchain so you can focus on learning by doing.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to work on real customer projects and see your impact in production.
  • Mentorship, structured learning, and professional development support.
  • Experience at a growing tech company with a supportive culture focused on collaboration, trust, transparency, and integrity.
