Position Overview

Higher Level Teaching Assistant – experienced, enthusiastic, hardworking, supporting teaching and learning across the curriculum and striving to give children the best start in life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers to perform their role effectively; preparing resources, learning environments, and completing minor administrative tasks as directed.
  • Guide and care for pupils as necessary, including helping with personal care, addressing accidents, managing expectations and behaviour, and committing to wellbeing and safeguarding.
  • Lead group support across targeted pupils within SEND support bases.
  • Liaise with the SEN teacher.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience supporting pupils and delivering effective teaching and targeted intervention strategies for groups at Key Stage 1 and EYFS to meet identified needs.
  • Good understanding of ASD and use of Coreboards.
  • Hold HLTA status or an equivalent/higher qualification.
  • Understanding that behaviour is a form of communication.
  • Demonstrate working effectively within a team, under the direction of teachers and leaders.
  • Provide examples of positive engagement with pupils, families, and practitioners.
  • Committed to full participation in all aspects of school life.
  • Flexible, adaptable, calm under pressure, able to think on feet and use initiative.
  • Patient, kind, well-humoured, and approachable for young children.
  • Motivated, passionate, reflective in their work.
  • Hold or be willing to undertake up-to-date first aid training.
  • Committed to ongoing professional development and education.
