We are pleased to offer an exciting career development opportunity within our Revenue Services team. This role is designed for individuals who have already obtained IRRV diploma and have experience in housing benefit, council tax reduction, and council tax or business rates administration and recovery, and who are ready to build on their expertise within a structured development framework.

About the role

As a Senior Revenue Officer, you will support the delivery of a high-quality Revenues and Benefits service, leading and supervising a team while providing technical expertise across housing benefit, council tax reduction, council tax, and recovery functions.

Career development opportunity

This post is offered as a career development role, with the successful applicant expected to bring demonstrable experience in:

  • Housing Benefit assessment and administration
  • Council Tax Reduction schemes
  • Council Tax and/or Business Rates administration and recovery

You will be supported to achieve the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation IRRV (Hons) professional qualification through a recognised development programme and structured course of study, funded and supported by the Council.

The anticipated timeframe to complete the qualification is 1 year, subject to individual progress and programme requirements.

Progression

The role is initially graded at Grade 7 (£32,061 to £35,412)

Progression to the full Grade 8 role (£36,363 to £40,777) will be achieved once:

  • The required level of professional qualification (IRRV Hons) has been obtained, and
  • Full competency in the Grade 8 role has been demonstrated against agreed criteria.

  • Experience of working within a local government or regulatory setting
