Support Worker

Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our incredible team in Askern, Doncaster.

For this role you will need a full UK driving licence, as we have mobility vehicles that you will need to drive.

As a Support Worker, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will work with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their lives.

Our service supports individuals who require help with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs, and communication difficulties. You will provide the physical and emotional support our people need every day, including assistance with personal care, medication, finances, activities, and everything else to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.

Qualities and Skills Required

  • Relationship Building: Essential for gaining the trust of the people we support, establishing open communication, and building lasting relationships.
  • Patience and Understanding: Important for navigating challenging situations effectively.
  • Conflict‑Resolution Techniques: Necessary for managing and resolving conflicts in a constructive manner.
  • Must be a driver and hold a manual driving licence.

Contract Options

  • Part time – 30 hours per week.
  • Full time – 37.5 hours per week.
  • Days: shifts between 07:00–22:00.
  • Sleep ins paid at a flat rate of £64.20 per sleep.
  • Must be flexible to cover weekends on a rota basis.

All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
