Spinal Injury Support Worker. Location: Canterbury. Salary: £16.53 per hour weekdays, £17.36 per hour weekend days. Job Type: Zero‑hour contract. Shifts: 8 am‑8 pm, 7 days per week. Full‑time/part‑time hours available.
Role Overview
We are looking for experienced and dedicated Spinal Injury Support Workers to join a new client in Canterbury, working on a 2:1 ratio. The client is a male in his late 50s with a spinal injury following a road‑traffic accident. He requires daily support with catheter and bowel management, cough assist and nebulisers, and monitoring for signs of autonomic dysreflexia. The ideal candidate is confident, empathetic, and capable of building a strong, trusting relationship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care (washing, dressing, catheter and bowel management)
- Prepare meals and support with nutrition
- Administer medication and assist with cough assist and nebulisers (training provided)
- Provide emotional support and companionship
- Support moving and handling
- Perform light housekeeping duties
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience supporting clients with high‑level spinal cord injury and complex needs
- Experience with catheter care, bowel management and/or knowledge of autonomic dysreflexia
- Valid UK driving licence (essential to drive during shift)
- Conscientious, caring and compassionate nature
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
