A thriving secondary school in Milton Keynes is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Intervention Mentor to join its student support team. As an Intervention Mentor in Milton Keynes, you will work closely with students, teachers, parents, and pastoral teams to deliver targeted interventions that raise attainment, improve attendance, and develop essential literacy, numeracy, and social skills. You will play a key role in supporting students who require additional guidance to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver targeted intervention programmes focused on literacy, numeracy, social skills, and academic progress.
- Support the monitoring and tracking of student achievement, particularly for identified groups requiring additional support.
- Implement strategies designed to improve student outcomes and raise academic attainment.
- Provide academic mentoring through one-to-one, small-group, and targeted support sessions.
- Monitor attendance and engagement of students participating in intervention programmes.
- Work alongside senior leaders and pastoral staff to promote emotional wellbeing, self-esteem, and positive behaviour.
- Maintain accurate records, intervention plans, progress reviews, and case studies.
- Produce regular reports on student progress and intervention impact.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities and wider school initiatives.
- Liaise effectively with teaching staff, parents, carers, and external agencies where required.
- Support the induction and transition of new students into the school community.
- Apply school behaviour policies consistently and effectively.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with young people in an educational, mentoring, pastoral, or support capacity.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
- Excellent organisational and record-keeping abilities.
- The ability to motivate and engage students from a range of backgrounds.
- Experience delivering literacy, numeracy, or wellbeing interventions is desirable.
