As a Band 6 Team Leader / Charge Nurse within Theatres at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective and compassionate care in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment. You will lead and support a multidisciplinary team, using your clinical expertise to ensure the highest standards of perioperative care. Working within one of the UK’s largest and most innovative health boards, you will be empowered to shape practice, influence service development and drive continuous improvement. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Glasgow Royal Infirmary
- Day shift, night shift and weekend working on a rotational basis
- There are 3 full‑time positions available at 36 hours per week, and 1 part‑time position available at 29.60 hours per week

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of nursing and support staff to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred perioperative care
- Act as a clinical expert and autonomous practitioner, supporting complex decision‑making and patient care delivery
- Coordinate daily theatre activity, including staff allocation, workload planning and service delivery
- Promote and maintain safe, effective practice in line with professional standards, policies and legislation
- Support, mentor and develop staff through supervision, appraisal, teaching and professional development
- Lead or contribute to service improvement initiatives, audits and implementation of evidence‑based practice
- Communicate effectively with patients, families and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent care and experience
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
- Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with current professional registration
- Significant post‑registration experience within a theatre or perioperative setting
- Evidence of leadership or clinical management experience at Band 5 or above
- Degree‑level education or working towards, with commitment to ongoing professional development
- Strong clinical knowledge and ability to demonstrate competence across theatre specialities
- Excellent communication, organisational and decision‑making skills
- Ability to work under pressure, manage complex situations and lead teams effectively in a fast‑paced environment
