Data Quality Assurance Officer

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Trust’s Data Quality Assurance Team. You will take a lead role in ensuring that the Trust has high‑quality data to support the delivery of the highest quality of care to patients and for performance reporting.

Applicants must have a good standard of general education including GCSE English and Maths (equivalent or relevant experience) and an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office systems. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and a team‑player attitude are essential. Experience with a variety of systems is required; NHS experience in patient administration or data quality is preferred but not essential.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake data validation and update data within Trust systems, primarily within the Patient Administration System (PAS).
  • Expedite patient records for further action.
  • Identify themes in data recording issues and refer for action to support “right first time”.
  • Support the Data Quality Assurance Team, which includes managers, trainers, business partners and officers across all sites.
  • Participate in a flexi‑time scheme and work from home part of the week after initial training.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Experience

  • NHS experience in a relevant field such as patient administration or data quality.
  • Good understanding of 18‑week principles including RTT measurement.
  • Proven experience using a range of hospital administration and clinical systems, including PAS.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex data within core systems.
  • Experience of data handling, including source data, collection and inputting, demonstrating competency to an advanced level.
  • Knowledge of clinical pathways.
  • Experience of undertaking audits.

Qualifications/Training

  • ECDL or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
  • English and Maths GCSE or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
  • Well‑developed keyboard and computer skills.
  • QI Training Course undertaken / participation in a service improvement project.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Clear communicator with excellent written and verbal skills; confident to undertake training on a 1:1 basis.
  • Able to handle constant interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Understanding the value of self‑presentation.
  • Ability to make decisions within a given framework.

  • Ability to work to strict deadlines.
  • Able to concentrate for long periods, ensuring accuracy is maintained at all times.
