Overview
Kenton Black Finance has partnered with a leading Merseyside company to recruit a Payroll Manager. The role involves overseeing payroll processes, systems, and a small team within a large organization of over 3000 staff.
Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Financial Controller and manage the payroll department
- Develop and maintain payroll systems, procedures and day‑to‑day activities, covering salaries, benefits, deductions, taxes and third‑party payments
- Coordinate time‑keeping and payroll changes such as new hires, terminations and raises
- Execute system upgrades and ensure ongoing system stability
- Maintain compliance with relevant laws and internal policies
- Liaise with auditors and manage payroll tax audits
- Collaborate with Human Resources and accounting teams to resolve payroll‑related queries
- Lead, mentor and develop a small payroll team
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years in a senior payroll role
- Strong knowledge of payroll procedures and payroll legislation
- Proven experience managing a payroll team
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Outstanding written and oral communication abilities
- Leadership and staff development capabilities
