Overview

Kenton Black Finance has partnered with a leading Merseyside company to recruit a Payroll Manager. The role involves overseeing payroll processes, systems, and a small team within a large organization of over 3000 staff.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Financial Controller and manage the payroll department
  • Develop and maintain payroll systems, procedures and day‑to‑day activities, covering salaries, benefits, deductions, taxes and third‑party payments
  • Coordinate time‑keeping and payroll changes such as new hires, terminations and raises
  • Execute system upgrades and ensure ongoing system stability
  • Maintain compliance with relevant laws and internal policies
  • Liaise with auditors and manage payroll tax audits
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and accounting teams to resolve payroll‑related queries
  • Lead, mentor and develop a small payroll team

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years in a senior payroll role
  • Strong knowledge of payroll procedures and payroll legislation
  • Proven experience managing a payroll team
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Outstanding written and oral communication abilities
  • Leadership and staff development capabilities
