Appointment of a Learning & Support Assistant
32.5 hours per week, term time only (8:45‑3:45 pm MON‑FRI inclusive). Salary: £27,122‑£27,528 (pro rata) (pay increase pending).
About the School
Chadsgrove School is a day special school for pupils whose special educational needs arise from their physical disabilities and/or complex medical needs. In addition, a significant number have profound and multiple learning difficulties, whilst others have sensory impairments and/or communication difficulties. At present there are 128 pupils on roll within the 2‑19 age range.
Role Overview
The Learning and Support Assistant role is varied and includes supporting teaching activities, assisting with changing and personal care, administering medication, and supporting pupils to access the curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Support teaching activities in the classroom, working with other teaching assistants and coordinators.
- Assist with changing and personal care of pupils.
- Support individual pupils to enable them to access the school curriculum fully.
- Be trained to administer medication.
- Work cooperatively within a multi‑disciplinary team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Physically fit and capable of working with physically disabled pupils.
- Previous experience working with physically disabled pupils is an advantage but not essential.
- Adaptable with a good sense of humour and the ability to empathise and work positively with pupils’ individual needs.
- Willingness to be trained to administer medication.
