Academics is recruiting for a full-time SEN Support Assistant to work on a one-to-one basis with a Key Stage 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brighton.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to a child’s educational journey, providing tailored support to help them access learning, develop social skills, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team, you will play an important role in implementing strategies that meet the individual needs of the pupil and promote their independence and progress.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a primary school setting.
- Implement individualized strategies to meet the pupil’s learning needs and promote independence and progress.
- Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team to support inclusive learning.
- Support communication with the pupil, build social skills, and foster a positive learning environment.
Qualifications and skills
- Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or additional learning needs.
- Patience, understanding, and adaptability in approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative school team.
