Data Architect

Telford/ Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite

600 per day inside ir35

6 months duration

Active SC clearance

We’re looking for an experienced Data Architect to join a major public-sector programme, providing client-side leadership across enterprise data architecture, governance, solution assurance and strategic planning.

This is a senior architecture role where you’ll work across a complex data estate spanning cloud, on-premise and SaaS environments, helping shape data strategy and ensure solutions align with enterprise standards and business objectives.

What you’ll be doing

  • Define and maintain enterprise data architecture standards, principles and patterns.
  • Provide architecture governance, design assurance and technical oversight.
  • Develop strategic roadmaps for data platforms and data products.
  • Assess the impact of business and technology change across the data landscape.
  • Work closely with enterprise architects, delivery teams, security teams, suppliers and senior stakeholders.
  • Support modern data capabilities including data products, metadata management, data fabric and data virtualisation.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance across architecture and engineering teams.
  • Support wider transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience in Enterprise Data Architecture within complex organisations.
  • Experience working across large-scale on-premise, cloud and SaaS environments.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure architecture.
  • Understanding of data governance, data integration, metadata management, data fabric and data virtualisation.
  • Proven experience in architecture governance and design assurance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Experience working across multiple technical teams, suppliers and business functions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Public-sector or regulated environment experience would be highly desirable.
