Job Overview
Pay Range: £13.60 per hour.
Reed in Partnership has been delivering public services since 1998. The Test Centre Associate – Hertford position supports the DVSA Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency programme by ensuring secure assessment of prospective new drivers for the Department of Transport. Across more than 70 test centres we conduct over 1.7million driving theory tests annually.
Responsibilities
- Invigilate exams and deliver tests to candidates, ensuring adherence to procedures and guidelines.
- Check candidates’ ID documents, book them into the system, and maintain test integrity and security.
- Supervise and invigilate tests, explaining the test process and addressing candidate queries.
- Review test centre schedules and perform daily opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure the test centre meets candidate needs in line with the Equality Act and our diversity and inclusion approach.
- Handle and report incidents that could impact candidate testing.
Work Schedule
- Mornings – 8:30a.m. to 1p.m./2p.m.
- Afternoons – 12:30p.m./1p.m. to 5:30p.m./6:30p.m.
- Full day – 8:30a.m. to 5:30p.m./6:30p.m.
- Evenings – 4:30p.m./5p.m. to 8:30p.m./9:30p.m.
- Afternoon & evenings – 12p.m./1p.m. to 8:30p.m./9:30p.m.
The Hertford Theory Test Centre typically operates Monday to Thursday and every other Saturday. Full flexibility to cover all operating days, evenings, and weekends is required.
Qualifications
- Full UK driving licence (driving is not required at all locations).
- Significant demonstrable experience in providing high‑quality customer service.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work under pressure and multitask.
- Experience working with diverse customer groups and strong judgement and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to remain calm and handle confrontational candidates professionally.
- Flexibility to work evenings, Saturdays, and weekends.
