Job Description:

Based at the National Treatment Centre – Highland within the UHI Campus, this role provides reception cover for 3 areas, Ophthalmology Outpatients, Day case & the Orthopaedic Inpatients, booking, and administrative support across Ophthalmology and Orthopaedics services.

You will act as a first point of contact for patients and visitors, manage outpatient outcomes, and deliver patient bookings across multiple specialities. The role involves close liaison with consultants, nursing teams, and administrative colleagues to support efficient service delivery, including clinic preparation.

Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will be expected to follow established processes and policies, maintain a good understanding of medical terminology, and ensure patients receive accurate and timely information regarding appointments and admissions.

In addition, you will support the induction and mentoring of new staff and contribute to maintaining a high standard of patient-focused service.

This position forms part of a wider administrative team responsible for ensuring reception and clinic cover is maintained Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 18:00 & Occasional Saturday working from 08:00 & 17:00. The role is essential to maintaining this level of service.

There are currently 45 hours available, comprising:

  • 1 x 30-hour post
  • 1 x 15-hour post

The role will predominantly be weekday-based, with occasional Saturday working required to meet the needs of the service.
