Job Overview
TAE Power Solutions is rapidly expanding its global footprint in the e-Mobility sector. We’re seeking a driven Business Development Director with a strong hunter mindset to accelerate our growth.
This high‑impact role reports to the e‑Mobility General Manager and offers significant exposure to senior leadership, along with clear progression opportunities.
The focus is simple: identify, engage, and secure new customers across key markets while contributing to our commercial strategy and overall sales growth.
The primary focus for the Business Development Director role will be to generate new business by proactively identifying, engaging, and securing new clients within key market sectors. You will contribute strategically to sales growth plans and play a vital role in achieving our success.
About the Role:
· Identification, quantitative analysis, and creation of new business opportunities, in partnership with Marketing, Engineering and wider E-Mobility Business Unit.
· Building deep, longstanding relationships with key customers.
· Gathering feedback and intelligence from the market, to further influence product development and business model definition.
· Create and deliver a sales plan to achieve the company’s revenue and customer targets. You will lead the collaborative activities across the business to deliver compelling proposals that meet our customers’ requirements.
· While you will inherit some existing strategic accounts, your primary role will to be spearhead proactive new client acquisition efforts resulting in new business opportunities to drive profitable sales growth.
· By collaborating closely with the technical team, you will lead joint activities across the business to deliver compelling proposals that meet our customers’ requirements.
· Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed growth targets across multiple outreach channels, leading to securing new clients and opportunities.
· To plan promotional activities and attend events to deliver presentations and speak at seminars to promote the company’s exciting technology.
· Lead the entire sales cycle from lead generation to contract signing, ensure opportunities are qualified, and make compelling presentations of our capabilities.
· Responsible for the complete sales process from initial engagement and account planning, detailed qualification, and compelling presentation of our products and capabilities, through to negotiation, closing and kick-off of new contracts.
· You will provide commercial leadership and expertise as an integral part of the team in a unique, fast-paced, and innovative team, made up of energetic and hardworking professionals, within a rapidly expanding and successful EV technology start-up.
Essential Skills/Experiences
· Exceptional technical sales track record within a relevant industry sector.
· At least 7+ years sales experience working in the Automotive / Defence / Marine / Aerospace sectors.
· Strong understanding of hardware and software aspects of electrified mobility technology.
· Excellent and creative analytical skills (Excel-based at minimum), to assess and develop novel business/partnership models.
· Successful experience in the pricing and negotiation of development programs and component sales.
· Experience of bringing new technologies to market from a tier 1 supplier or OEM perspective.
· Experience in operating in a pre-revenue environment and shaping the narrative from concept to market delivery.
· Expert in sales process and strategic planning.
· Expert negotiator, with a demonstrable track record of successfully negotiating contracts.
Preferred Skills/Experiences
· The Business Development Director will be a natural leader, competent in working cross-functionally and building a team with a hands-on approach.
· Experience in operating in a pre-revenue environment and shaping the narrative from concept to market delivery.
· Thrives in a fast-paced environment with flexibility to an ever-evolving landscape.
· Have an already established network in the E-Mobility sectors.
· Experienced in Government funding, joint ventures, and EU funding programmes.
· Relevant technical degree and/or MBA.
