The role focuses on building strategic and commercial partnerships, expanding income-generating activities, and supporting the organisation’s long-term financial sustainability through increased unrestricted revenue. This position suits a commercially astute professional with strong relationship-building and partnership skills. A solid understanding of the media and entertainment landscape is essential, alongside transferable business development experience from professional services, skills development, or the third sector, with an interest in the creative industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a commercial strategy to drive revenue growth, increase market share, and maximise profitability.
- Identify and progress new business opportunities across the media and entertainment sector.
- Monitor market trends, technology, and regulation to inform strategic priorities.
- Support income generation through grants, partnerships, sponsorships, and other funding streams.
- Build and manage a strong sales pipeline, progressing opportunities in line with leadership priorities.
- Create high-quality proposals, pitches, and business cases for partners and clients.
- Lead the development of revenue-generating projects and initiatives.
- Develop financial models and track performance against KPIs.
- Lead negotiations and secure commercially sound agreements.
- Support contracts, funding bids, and partnership proposals.
- Attend industry events.
You will need
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or commercial roles within media and entertainment, the third sector, or learning and development, with strong knowledge of the creative industries.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and capitalise on new opportunities.
- Demonstrated financial literacy, including forecasting, modelling, and budget management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong presentation and pitching capabilities in a business development context.
- Strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel nationally as required.
- Highly organised, self‑motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
