HVDC Power Systems Engineer – PSCAD / EMTDC / MATLAB (Contract)

We’re supporting a leading engineering organisation delivering complex HVDC projects and are looking for experienced Power Systems Engineers with strong simulation and design expertise.

This is an opportunity to work on large-scale transmission projects, contributing to the design and analysis of advanced HVDC systems.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience in HVDC system design
• Strong capability in PSCAD / EMTDC simulations
• Proficiency in MATLAB / Simulink
• Experience delivering power system studies, including:
• RMS / stability studies
• AC/DC interaction analysis
• Electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies
• Background in control & protection (C&P) or converter systems (VSC / LCC)
• Ability to develop and validate detailed simulation models

Desirable Experience

• Experience on HVDC, offshore wind, or large-scale grid connection projects
• Exposure to system integration and grid compliance challenges
• Background working with OEMs or engineering consultancies

Contract Details

• 12-month contract
• ASAP start date
• Outside IR35
• Hybrid set up
