Reporting to: Commercial Director

Fluid is a fast-growing, family-friendly consultancy based in Leeds, working with clients across the UK. We specialise in helping organisations leverage technology and change to drive meaningful business outcomes.

Our work spans Private Equity, mid-market organisations, and complex transformation programmes, where we combine business analysis, project delivery, and technology expertise to solve real-world challenges.

We pride ourselves on our collaborative, down-to-earth culture. We offer flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping how the business grows. As we continue to scale, we are investing in strengthening our commercial capability to support the next phase of growth.

The Opportunity

This is not a typical Business Development role.

We are looking for someone to help us build and professionalise our commercial function, working closely with senior leadership to bring greater structure and consistency to how we manage and grow opportunities across the business.

Fluid has an established presence across a number of key markets and continues to see growing demand for its services. As part of our next phase of growth, we are looking to strengthen how we manage, nurture, and convert opportunities across the business.

This role will play a central part in supporting and enhancing our commercial activity — bringing greater structure, consistency, and momentum to how we manage pipeline, engage clients, and progress opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take operational ownership of key accounts across our core markets
  • Develop and maintain structured account plans to drive engagement and identify opportunities
  • Manage and progress active opportunities, ensuring consistent follow‑up and momentum
  • Support senior stakeholders in maintaining strong, value‑led client relationships

Commercial Operations & CRM Ownership

  • Own and maintain our HubSpot CRM, ensuring data quality, pipeline accuracy, and clear visibility
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reporting to track pipeline, activity, and performance
  • Support forecasting and provide regular insight into commercial performance
  • Introduce structure and best practice into how we manage pipeline and opportunities

Business Development Support

  • Support outreach activity across email, LinkedIn, and other channels
  • Coordinate meetings, follow‑ups, and early‑stage conversations
  • Work with senior team members to shape proposals and responses
  • Help convert warm leads and existing relationships into active opportunities

Marketing & Campaign Alignment

  • Work closely with our marketing team to support targeted campaigns
  • Help define target accounts, personas, and messaging
  • Ensure marketing activity is aligned to commercial priorities and pipeline opportunities
  • Support the distribution and follow‑up of thought leadership, case studies, and insights

Commercial Planning & Growth Enablement

  • Support the development and execution of our commercial strategy
  • Help build a repeatable, scalable approach to business development
  • Contribute to improving how we approach account management across the business
  • Identify opportunities to improve conversion rates and client engagement

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • Proven experience in a Business Development, Account Management, or Commercial role within a professional services, consultancy, or technology environment
  • Experience working with mid‑market organisations, Private Equity, or Financial Services is highly desirable
  • Experience managing pipelines and using CRM systems (e.g. HubSpot) effectively

Skills

  • Strong organisational and commercial awareness — able to manage multiple opportunities and priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to balance relationship‑building with structured, process‑driven working
  • Comfortable working with data, reporting, and performance tracking

Mindset & Personality

  • Entrepreneurial and proactive — comfortable working in a growing business with autonomy
  • Structured and detail‑oriented — able to bring order and consistency to how things are done
  • Collaborative — enjoys working closely with senior stakeholders and delivery teams
  • Curious and commercially minded — interested in how businesses grow and how technology enables that growth

Progression & Impact

  • Initial focus: Building structure, improving pipeline visibility, and supporting account engagement
  • Medium term: Driving improved conversion rates and supporting account growth
  • Discretionary company‑wide profit‑related bonus
  • Flexible and hybrid working
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment
  • Opportunity to shape and build a key function within a growing consultancy

Why Join Fluid?

  • Real impact: Play a key role in shaping how we grow as a business
  • Autonomy: Freedom to improve and build new approaches, not just follow process
  • Variety: Exposure to multiple industries, clients, and commercial challenges
  • Culture: Down‑to‑earth, supportive, and genuinely flexible
