We have an exciting opportunity at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) Cymru for a Manufacturing Research Engineer who wishes to make a meaningful impact across Wales and the UK manufacturing sector.
About the Role
As a Manufacturing Research Engineer, you will support the technical delivery of multiple concurrent projects, utilising your skills in process modelling, digitalisation and automation to create practical solutions for real‑world challenges.
- Develop and implement digital simulation models, analyse outputs and present findings to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of demonstrators and prototypes, advise on technical challenges and stay at the forefront of Industry 4.0 Digital Manufacturing Technologies.
- Liaise with cross‑functional teams, engage in knowledge‑transfer and outreach activities, manage project timelines and resources, assist with risk assessments, project management and procurement.
- Deliver clear technical reports and presentations and participate in public engagement to promote the centre’s research excellence.
Who We Are Looking For
- Qualifications: 2:1 or above in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent industrial experience).
- Technical background in at least two of the following: process modelling and simulation, digitalisation, automation or lean manufacturing.
- Experience in a similar environment and proven ability in discrete event simulation software.
- Strong understanding of Industry 4.0 and the benefits of applied manufacturing technology for business efficiency and decarbonisation.
- Desirable experience in risk assessment writing, project management and project scoping.
- Excellent IT and communication skills, ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, innovative environment and adapt to deadlines and changing priorities.
- Self‑motivated, proactive approach required.
