Job Title: Veteran Liaison Support Officer (Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne & Wear)

Location: Home/Hub Hybrid with travel to multiple locations within Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear.

Hours: 37.5 (e.g. 9 – 5 with half hour unpaid break)

Contract Type: Fixed Term (until March 2029)

Role Overview

In this hybrid role based at Monkwearmouth Hospital in Sunderland within the Single Point of Access team, you will support veterans through the mental health pathway in collaboration with Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust as part of Op COURAGE. The successful candidate will be based within the Cumbria, Northumberland or Tyne & Wear region, travelling to multiple locations as required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the central point of contact for veterans’ support needs, assessing caseload requirements.
  • Make referrals to local delivery partners and coordinate services across housing, education and training, welfare, debt, social isolation, relationship breakdowns and substance misuse.
  • Provide ongoing case management, ensuring continuous navigation of support services.
  • Collaborate within a multi‑disciplinary team while independently managing time and caseload.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports for service users and partners.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience as a caseworker managing a dispersed and diverse caseload.
  • Resilient, self‑motivated, and able to work collaboratively.
  • Experience or specialisation in housing is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience working with veterans is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
