Position: Manufacturing Engineer

Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:30, 08:00 – 13:30 Friday

Reporting to: Engineering Lead

Package on offer

  • Salary: Negotiable £32,000 – £42,000
  • Pension: 5% min personal contribution, Company contribution of 3%
  • Annual Leave: 25 days plus 8 BH Pro-rata
  • Life Insurance: 2 x annual salary Death in Service

Role Summary

To facilitate the organisation in attaining its mandated objectives by achieving our SQCDP & KRA metrics.

Responsible for engineering of production parts, cost saving, process improvement and scrap reduction activity, in addition to providing technical support within the designated key area. When capacity dictates, may also be required to assist other Manufacturing Engineer’s in their sections.

The employee will willingly undertake, upon request, any other task they are able to perform. Elements of the role may vary as new technology, procedures and equipment are introduced.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise, secure and manage resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives
  • Schedule and head up engineering projects including new parts and cost/scrap reduction activity
  • Testing new processes, procedures and equipment
  • Responding to stops/issues in production and providing solutions to ensure the continuous flow of work
  • Researching and implementing opportunities to make processes more efficient
  • Conduct root cause analysis when issues occur and implement corrective actions.
  • Form part of the daily operations team to integrate engineering projects within daily production plans and priorities
  • Report directly to internal stakeholders and customers on highly critical projects via regular conference calls, e-mails, face-to-face meetings, etc.
  • Support the Engineering Manager to continuously develop systems, processes and engineering methods used, to ensure we achieve the best standards possible

Person Specification

  • Experience within a similar role ideally within a casting or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of working within the aerospace industry with knowledge of PPAP, 8D and FMEA processes would be advantageous but not essential.
  • We are seeking a highly motivated person with excellent communication skills and a good team player, with a high level of concentration and commitment to work.
  • You must be able to work on your own initiative, work well under pressure and enjoy a challenging environment.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship

Essential Experience

  • Excellent IT skills in particular Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Project and Windows Applications.
  • You must have excellent Time Management, Administrative skills, Attention to detail and be able to work on own initiative to tight timescales

Desirable Experience

  • Investment casting industrial experience
  • Experience of using Solidworks and Camworks packages would be desirable.
  • Shop floor experience within Manufacturing engineering.
