In-House Counsel (5+ PQE) | International E-commerce | £80k – £120k | City of London

Location: City of London

Employer: International luxury e-commerce company

Our client, an international e-commerce firm focused on luxury goods, is looking for a confident Senior Associate or higher Solicitor to assist their London based CEO. With subsidiary companies and offices across several continents (with a substantial Asian presence), the firm has a small existing team of junior legal professionals and is looking for a senior team member to manage all internal legal matters.

Duties within this role include supervising the in‑house legal team and supporting the firm in the capacity of an in‑house Corporate Governance Solicitor; drafting commercial and finance contracts, handling corporate governance matters, and regulatory compliance, AML, and risk management. An ideal candidate will come from a similar environment, preferably a company that has an e‑commerce focus or an Asian presence. Experience supervising junior members of staff is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of Corporate Governance matters including commercial and finance contracts, regulatory compliance, international banking compliance, AML and risk management.
  • Assist and direct the existing in‑house legal team, providing guidance and support to junior legal professionals when necessary.
  • Work with senior management and report to the London‑based CEO, advising on a wide variety of international matters.
  • Support the development of the office and assist with office initiatives.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • UK qualified solicitor of 5+ PQE or equivalent qualification. Other levels will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
  • Excellent post‑qualification experience, including time within a multi‑national or international in‑house environment.
  • Time spent supervising junior members of staff with strong management skills.
  • Experience with commercial and finance contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and AML matters.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Well‑developed communication skills with colleagues and members of staff.
  • High levels of attention to detail.
  • Ideally experience with e‑commerce or Asian market experience.

As this is a new position that has recently been released, some details may change or be clarified. The employer offers a highly competitive salary, a competitive benefits scheme, and flexible hybrid working. Full benefits can be made available on request.
