As a Farm Liaison Officer (FLO), you will be at the heart of our biosolids operation, acting as the key link between Severn Trent, our customers and the agricultural community. You will coordinate the sustainable and cost‑effective recycling operation of biosolids and related waste streams, ensuring excellent customer service to our farming customers while managing environmental, health and safety and compliance requirements.
This is a varied, field‑based role where you will play a vital part in developing the agricultural land bank we recycle to, supporting long‑term recycling solutions and strengthening our presence across the agricultural sector. Two Farm Liaison Officer roles have slightly different focuses: one is aligned to a defined geographical area (Worcestershire & Shropshire or Warwickshire). The second role takes on a broader, business‑development focus across the wider Severn Trent region and surrounding areas. In this role you will support marketing activity, attend agricultural shows and proactively identify and engage new customers through on‑site visits and outreach, working closely with the communications team and regional FLOs. The position requires flexibility to support different regions as needed, with regular travel and occasional overnight stays.

- Manage the end‑to‑end delivery of land application, including site visits and audits to maintain safe operations and zero pollution risk.
- Build strong relationships with farming customers, contractors and stakeholders, delivering excellent service and representing the key values of Severn Trent.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental and regulatory standards, including incident management where required.
- Identify and drive improvements, supporting operational efficiency and developing new recycling and sales opportunities.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of agriculture and relevant regulations or guidelines (e.g., Biosolids Assurance Scheme, Sludge Use in Agriculture Regulations and RB209).
- Good understanding of farming practices, with a specific appreciation of arable operations and nutrient management (desirable).
- Confident use of systems and data handling, including GIS mapping and Microsoft Office in a field‑based role.
- Understanding of water/wastewater processes, anaerobic digestion or the biosolids market (desirable).
- Experience working with agricultural stakeholders within a commercial or operational environment (desirable).
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- FACTS qualification or willingness to work towards it.
Capabilities
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills across a range of stakeholders.
- Confident engaging with the agricultural sector, providing accurate information and managing customer queries.
- Proactive and solution‑focused, with the ability to identify risks and plan ahead.
- Organised and adaptable, able to manage workload and work flexibly.
- Collaborative and accountable, taking ownership and supporting team performance.
