About the Role
PK Education are working with a secondary school in Barnsley who are seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team on a full-time basis. This vacancy has arisen due to a resignation, and there is a strong possibility for the role to be made permanent from September for the successful candidate.
This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain consistent and valuable classroom experience within a supportive school environment.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in the day‑to‑day running of the school by delivering pre‑planned lessons in the absence of teaching staff. You will ensure students remain engaged with their learning while maintaining a positive, structured, and focused classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising classes across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering pre‑set work provided by teaching staff.
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
- Supporting students to stay on task and engaged in their learning.
- Building positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff.
- Providing feedback to teaching staff on student behaviour and progress.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with young people, ideally within a school setting.
- Confidence in leading a classroom and managing behaviour.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A professional, proactive, and reliable approach.
- A genuine interest in education and supporting young people.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
